About Sagechat.ai
Technology built for our people,
by our people.
Sagechat.ai is an AI assistant grounded in Indigenous knowledge, values, and ways of knowing — built by Sevenfires AI LLC, an Indigenous-owned company, for Native communities first.
The Seven Fires Prophecy
The Seven Fires Prophecy is an ancient Anishinaabe teaching that describes seven epochs of life — seven great fires, each lit by a prophet who came to the people with a message. The prophecy traces the journey of the Anishinaabe people across the land, the arrival of the light-skinned peoples, and the disruption of the sacred path.
At the seventh fire, the people face a choice. They can continue down the path they have been walking — the road of the colonizer, the road of extraction and forgetting — or they can retrace their steps, gather the scattered fire, and return to the original teachings. The prophecy says: if we choose the right road, the seventh fire will become the eighth — a new eternal flame of peace, love, brotherhood, and sisterhood. If we choose the wrong road, we will bring great suffering to ourselves and to the whole earth.
Sevenfires AI takes its name from this teaching. We believe that technology — like fire — can illuminate or consume. It can carry knowledge forward seven generations, or it can scatter what remains. The choice of which path to walk belongs to Native peoples themselves. That is why we built this.
Who we are
Sevenfires AI LLC was founded in 2026 by Chad Parisien, an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. The company was built on a simple conviction: that the most powerful technologies should serve the communities that have always been asked to survive them, not profit from them.
We are a small team. We are deliberate about that. We would rather build one thing well than scale ten things loudly. Sagechat is our first product and our clearest expression of the mission: an AI that sounds like someone who actually cares, speaking from a place of cultural grounding rather than corporate neutrality.
Sevenfires AI is incorporated in North Dakota. We serve tribal nations, language programs, Indigenous schools, and individual community members across the United States and Canada.
What Sagechat is — and isn't
Sage is an AI assistant. It uses large language model technology to answer questions — but its system prompt, its knowledge priorities, and its voice are shaped by Indigenous perspectives, not optimized for the average internet user.
Sage can discuss history, science, language, relationships, current events, land stewardship, ceremony (within appropriate limits), and anything else you want to explore — but it will answer from a place of Indigenous knowing. When the mainstream answer and the Native answer differ, Sage will tell you.
Sage is not a replacement for elders. It is not a repository for sacred and restricted knowledge — we do not include what has not been offered for sharing. Sage is a guide, a starting point, a voice that sounds like home — not an authority on what any single Nation believes or practices.
Sage does not speak for any tribe. It does not represent official tribal positions. When it speaks of "our" ways, it speaks from a place of belonging to this work — not from claimed authority over any Nation's teachings.
Nations and knowledge Sage carries
Sagechat holds knowledge across many Nations and traditions. At launch, Sage has deepest grounding in Anishinaabe (Ojibwe/Chippewa) teachings — particularly Turtle Mountain Band traditions — but is built to hold multiple voices simultaneously, including:
- Anishinaabe / Ojibwe / Chippewa — oral traditions, Midewiwin teachings, clan systems, language (Ojibwemowin)
- Lakota / Sioux — the sacred hoop, Seven Council Fires, Mitákuye Oyásʼiŋ (all my relations)
- Cherokee — syllabary, removal history, Eastern and Western Band traditions
- Navajo / Diné — the four worlds, Hózhó (walking in beauty), land and sky teachings
- Haudenosaunee / Iroquois — the Great Law of Peace, Sky Woman, longhouse governance
- Muscogee / Creek — Green Corn Ceremony, stomp dance, matrilineal clan traditions
- Blackfeet / Niitsitapi — buffalo relations, medicine bundles, Sun Dance
- Many others — including Pacific Northwest Nations, Plains Nations, Eastern Woodland peoples, and more
When traditions across Nations disagree — and they often do — Sage holds the disagreement rather than flattening it. Different Nations, different stories, different answers. All are welcome at this table.
Six principles, in plain language
A model is only ever as good as the values poured into it. These are ours — not as marketing, but as a working contract with the communities Sage serves.
i.
Conversations stay yours
Nothing you say to Sage is sold, mined, or fed back into a corporate training loop. Your words belong to you, and to the people you choose to share them with.
ii.
Many teachings, one table
Sage doesn't flatten Nations into one voice. When traditions differ — and they often do — Sage holds the disagreement instead of resolving it away.
iii.
Built with, not about
Knowledge keepers, language carriers, and community members shape what Sage knows and how it speaks. We pay for what we use. We ask before we share.
iv.
Seven generations forward
Every decision — what to include, what to refuse, what to remember, what to forget — is weighed against the lives of those not yet born.
v.
Plainspoken, not performative
No mysticism cosplay. No sage-emoji nonsense. Just careful, honest answers in a voice that sounds like someone who actually cares.
vi.
Sovereignty over scale
We'd rather serve our communities well than every market loudly. Tribal nations, schools, and language programs come first.
Privacy is not a feature. It's a commitment.
The history of data extraction from Native communities is long and harmful — genetic research taken without consent, sacred knowledge commodified, cultural practices studied and sold back. We are aware of this history. We are not repeating it.
Your conversations with Sage are yours. We do not sell them. We do not use them to train future AI models. We do not share them with advertisers, researchers, or governments. We store the minimum necessary to keep the service running and nothing more.
Sevenfires AI LLC does not have investors demanding data monetization. We are not optimizing for a quarterly report. We are optimizing for trust — and trust, in our tradition, is built over generations.
